So, I had a nice weekend.
Friday, we went out to Olive Garden for dinner. I don’t know if it was
the breadsticks or the food, but we got a bit loopy. It really is fun
to be nutty and crazy every now and then. Being sane all the time
really does get tiring. After dinner and a quick run to her dorm to
pick up socks, we went bowling at Centennial Lanes where I proceeded to
kick her butt in three games. I’ll admit, though, that these three
games kinda sucked. Not my best night nor hers. Austin Powers was the movie that capped the evening off.
Saturday, we met for lunch at Portillo’s and then headed back to my
place for some important discussions and some more reading. We finally
finished our books that we had assigned each other to read. Mine was Peter Pan, hers was The Terminal Man. There’s nothing quite like spending a quiet couple of hours in the afternoon reading books together on the couch.
Later that night, we went to the Jars of Clay concert where we met up with her mom and had a blast. Thanks to my friend, Joanne, we got to meet the band backstage and hit them up for autographs.
Sunday, it was church and the mall with Amanda and Jenny. We came back
and hung out in her dorm room, watching TV and one of our favorite
movies ever made: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
If you haven’t seen it already, do yourself a service and rent/borrow
it. It’s the most dreamlike movie I have ever seen. I don’t know how
one begins to plan to create a film like this, but they pulled it off.
“I
could die right now, Clem. I’m just… happy. I’ve never felt that
before. I’m just exactly where I want to be.” –Joel Barrish (Jim
Carrey), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
It was a nice weekend with my favorite person in the world.
