As adults, I think it’s so easy to forget where we came from. We’re so used to being reliant on ourselves for everything. We feed ourselves when we are hungry; we transport ourselves to places; and we buy, get and do whatever we want. We forget that there was ever a time when we were small, mewling babes who couldn’t do a thing, especially if our lives depended on it. It never ceases to amaze me how small infants are, especially newborns.  → Read more...

It’s been said that the Bible has a “ring of truth to it.” In other words, the personal experiences, lessons, teachings, and history contained within the 66 books of the Bible contains truths that are observable, testable and aligns with our reality. If we are careful students of Truth and test it with the world around us, then we can start to build healthy worldviews. As many of you already know by now, I became a proud father for the first time to Caleb Timothy Aggen nearly a month ago on Monday, August 20. Right now, my Bible studies have taken me to the Book of Exodus once again. This familiar story of the release of the Hebrews from the hardship of Egypt through miraculous signs and wonders, I’ve read almost constantly from grade school and onward.  → Read more...

Ever since I got married, I’ve allowed myself to ponder (sometimes!) what it would be like to have children. I’ve grown up only knowing what it is like to be a child. It will be interesting to be on the other side of the fence to say the least. When we’re children, we hardly think beyond the things and the people that are in front of us. We look to our parents and marvel how amazing it is that they know everything!  → Read more...

If you haven’t come to church during the day in the week, you wouldn’t know how quiet and serene it usually is. There have been days when I only see or hear people when they walk by the water fountain. Working in a church is usually a nice place, especially if you want to concentrate on something. This week was an exception. It’s an annual ritual. Once a year, instead of the normal quiet, a cloud of cacophony descends upon Calvary Church.  → Read more...
