So, I just got done talking with my cousin Josh who’s in Iraq right
now, specifically Mosul. (The wonders of the internet…) This city is
one of the worst places you can be in Iraq. Allow me to paste a segment
of the conversation…
Josh: what up man
Matt: hey cuz, hows it goin
Josh: not bad back in lovely iraq [he had just come back from a week’s furlough to see his wife and brand spankin’ new daughter]
Matt: so i been hearing
Matt: mosul
Josh: yeah its fucked up over here
Matt: whaddya mean?
Josh: just a lot more shitgoing down
Matt: i heard about all those insurgent attacks.
Matt: seein any action?
Josh: yeah fuck the litte
bastards, yeah ive seen a little and i will see more. its not a whole
lot of fun getting shot at, but shooting back is
Matt: can’t imagine that shit.
I’ve played Counterstrike, Call of Duty, and all of those first person
shooters, but still…. I can’t imagine going through that. The men and
the women in the armed forces everywhere simply do not get enough
respect from us for the dangerous work they do in trying to keep peace
and stability in the far-reaching parts of the world so that the rest
of us can live our lives the way we choose to.
So, to all of you who are currently serving or have served, thank you
for all what you do and God bless you. Come back home safely to us.

Amen to all and on a completely different note minigolfing (last Sunday) was at Hollywood Park in Crestwood. They’re up to $5/person now, but it was still fun.

the closest thing i’ve had to being shot at was playing paintball like 8 years ago… and it was such wierd feeling.. even then you know that at worst you’re gonna get a welt.. nothing like the real thing.. definately give props to our soldiers on the front lines..
