The leaves are starting to change colors, the weather is getting cooler
and crispier, and I’m finally done with my court dates. Yup, must be
Fall.

I just realized I said a while ago I would explain the whole court thing, but I haven’t yet. Here’s Part I:

Amanda and I were enroute from Amanda’s house to her friend’s place
when I got pulled over by a police officer in a speed trap. I sighed
and grudgingly parked my car on the shoulder. The cop asked the
standard question: license and registration. I dug into my wallet and
gave him what he wanted. After a few minutes of fussing around in his
car, he returned and let me know that my license was suspended.

“Um, excuse me, what?”

He repeated it again. “Your license is suspended.”

So, I got a ticket for speeding and driving on a suspended license and
Amanda had to drive my car AND I won a court date in Will County as
well.

That was Friday. Saturday morning, I woke up and got ready for the
beach. I was going to pick Amanda up and we were going to go over her
friend’s place to go to the beach. I got into my car and headed over to
Amanda’s place. After about ten minutes of driving, I noticed red and
blue lights in my rearview mirror. Another cop car.

“Son of a…” I started saying as I pulled over. The cop informed me that I had failed to use my turn signal in a merge.

Ten minutes later, I found myself in the Palos Park Police Department
waiting for Amanda to pick me up. They would not let me drive my car
because I didn’t have a valid license and no one else was in the car with me. So, I got a ticket for the
failure to use a turn signal and driving on a suspended license. As an
added bonus, I got a court date in Cook County.

This is how my September looked like: court date, my birthday, court
date. It was like a delicious sandwich. The bread was kind of stale and
sucked, but the inside was delicious.

To be continued…
