I had a great weekend despite getting muddy and breaking showers. Just another day, really.

This weekend reminded me why I love October. The leaves are finally
starting to hit their peak fall colors. We have glorious golds and
radiant reds with oranges and hints of green in there. The leaves smell
great and crunch well underfoot. Pumpkins are also being spotted,
Halloween decorations are put up. All of this activity is being done
under bright blue skies and cool, crisp weather, the perfect weather
that carries the aromatic smell of burning leaves afar.

My favorite image so far of this fall is standing in this huge canyon
in Matthissen with Amanda. This canyon ended in a half crescent and had
a deep pond of sitting water at the end of it. Just before the pond,
there is a series of small caves with small holes to your left that allow access to
a new angle of viewing the canyon and the pond. On top of the canyon,
you can see the lush vegetation that included wildflowers and the
trees, most with their roots showing. There were many leaves that were
falling off the trees and just floating down, landing on top of the
pond, floating on the surface. It was a gentle rain of leaves. We stood
there for a few minutes, watching the leaves fall.

Amanda and I spent the weekend enjoying the weather with her family. Her Aunt Martha
came into town on Saturday and it was great to finally put a person
behind the Xanga. Sunday, there was a small birthday gathering at her
mom’s for her and Tim. It’s fun to hang out with family, especially if
you’re the boyfriend. You get to hear all these family stories, stuff
that you had not heard before.

Now, if you’ll allow me to indulge into something I do not do very
often. GO WHITE SOX! YEAH! WE’RE IN THE WORLD SERIES, WOO HOO!

Thank you. We now resume our regularly scheduled programming.
