Yesterday was the best Valentine’s Day, ever! Well, considering this was my first time celebrating Valentine’s Day with someone I love, this may be slightly hyperbolic, but really, yesterday rocked. For a more comprehensive, hit-by-hit detail of the day, hit up Amanda’s site.

I spent most of the day planning on making the best day I could for Amanda. The thing about planning things is that you want everything to go well, so you’re always constantly analyzing or gauging someone’s reaction in your head. For dinner, I decided that I would cook because I love cooking for her (and ladies, honestly, what’s sexier than a man who cooks? Am I right? Guys, if you don’t know how to cook, learn!), plus it’s more fun than sitting in some noisy, overcrowded restaurant (which is the case in every place on Valentine’s Day). I decided the menu would be spaghetti. Then I realized I had cooked her spaghetti before so I felt the need to do something different, I decided to cook (pre-made) meatballs as well. It’s fun to try new things.

Then for her gift, I made her a homemade card with a poem I had written and bought her some candy and the movie The Notebook. I’m really proud of the poem. It only took me a few rewrites to get it the way I wanted it to be. I had fun making the card and will definitely do it again. I also brought her a dozen roses when I picked her up that evening. (You gotta have flowers on Valentine’s Day. It’s, like, a law.) She got me a sweet Superman shirt, which I will wear tomorrow, and The Breakfast Club along with a funny and sweet card. We decided to go kind of low-key on gifts this year since our big one-year anniversary’s in March, just over a month away.

Both the dinner and the gifts went over well. She loved everything, much to my relief. We had decided to dress up for the evening. She is the most gorgeous girl in the entire world, but last night she was stunning in her black skirt with her hair straightened for the occasion. There are times when I am just struck on how lucky of a man she has made me. Yesterday was one of those times.

Then to cap the evening off, I got a phone call from Target while we were in the middle of The Notebook. They wanted to hire me, so I went in today and took a drug test. Unless my cup of pee gets mixed up with a hardcore heroin user, I have a job! Yay!

So, that’s why this year’s Valentine’s Day was the best ever! Matter of fact, I can put this in an equation: Good food + gorgeous girl + cool gifts + job offer + kissing = Best Valentine’s Day Ever!
