Today marks the beginning of the holy weekend with Maundy Thursday and Passover taking place. If you’ve noticed, I put our Easter weekend schedule above. Prayerfully consider bringing a friend, a neighbor, a co-worker, or someone you know who doesn’t know the Lord.

I’ve begun to dwell lately on the concept of eternity and the eternal ramifications of our choices on earth. The very idea of Hell, a place where you are forsaken, robbed of God’s presence for all eternity frightens me. We’re so accustomed to God’s grace that falls on the just and the unjust while we’re all alive here that we tend to easily forget the reality and the day of judgment that awaits all of us when we’ve breathed our last.

I am SO thankful that we have a gracious, loving God who didn’t want to abandon us to Hell, but instead gave us his one and only Son who went to the cross and then rose again three days later in an impressive and miraculous victory, defeating Death’s hold on us. This is what we celebrate this weekend. It is also a solemn reminder that we cannot afford to let those who we love and who are unsaved miss out on this party. May this Easter weekend find yourself blessed with family and friends and, of course, good food.

– Matt
