My Hypocritical Oath
My heart is heavy this week. I’ve come to realize I am a hypocrite. The definition of hypocrite is someone who “professes beliefs, feelings, or virtues that one does not hold or possess.” You may ask what has sparked such a revelation. The truth is, there wasn’t a revelation. It was something I innately knew for a while; I was just confronted with it recently and couldn’t avoid it. The story goes a bit something like this… A man was being tailgated by a stressed-out woman on a busy boulevard. Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.
