Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen community being born, how it benefits us in small groups, and it being alive in the church. Today, we’re going to conclude by looking at the eternal nature of community.

I’ve written many times about how Randy Alcorn’s book Heaven has impacted my philosophy and my daily outlook on life. In one of the areas that impacted me the most was the truth that we will find and know the ones that we’ve grown to love and befriended here. Not only just that, but we’ll get to meet new people and forge new friendships.

How would you like to know that the friends and family that you have right now, today, will be still your friends and family for eternity? How would it make you feel to know that death is just a temporary interruption of the relationships that you’ve built during your time here? I don’t know about you, but these thoughts fill me with excitement and gladness. I am glad I don’t have to lose the investment of time and energy that I’ve put in my relationships. I am glad that when Heaven arrives, I will be able to find my friends and embrace them and continue where we left off.

– Matt
