We truly are living in a cool era of information and sharing. Every day, thanks to social media and the Internet, I come across many artists, thinkers and writers who are writing, drawing and publishing great material for thought and illumination. One such person is Adam Ford who started his own Christian webcomic at adam4d.com. I’ve been following him for a few months now and he’s shown the ability to summarize proper and deep theological insight in a few panels of a comic.  → Read more...

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been thinking more and more about living life intentionally. I will admit that the prospect of having a child to take care of in the next few months has been a major catalyst in me pursuing this line of thinking. I have been thinking about how to be a proactive parent rather than a reactive one. For example, if there are experiences that we want to give our children, we will actively pursue that opportunity rather than just wait and hope it will happen.  → Read more...

Last year or so, I posted a news article that talked about the sobering issues that Middle Eastern Christians have to face. Another article caught my eye a few weeks ago about Iran cracking down on Christians in a bid to stamp out possible political revolution. I’ve been looking for a time to post it here. Here are some excerpts, although I encourage you to read the whole story to get a fuller understanding of the issue.  → Read more...

A lot of times, through no fault of our own, we forget that there are other people in the world. Once we do that, we usually make the mistake of thinking that our experiences in America are replicated everywhere else. We often forget that there are countries that don’t have the same freedoms and blessings that we’re fortunate to have in America. One of the benefits of keeping up with the news and reading well-written news stories is that they brIng my attention to many things that I would not know about.  → Read more...

I’ve been reading another book. This time it is The Divine Commodity. It’s a challenging book that asks some tough questions about how Christianity should be spread and shared in our contemporary culture. I’m only a couple of chapters in, but so far it’s amazing how the book details what I’ve been dwelling on lately: the increasing commodification of humans. The definition of commodity is as thus: “Something useful that can be turned to commercial or other advantage.”  → Read more...

Last week I talked about a book I was reading that discussed the coming end times framing them through current events and biblical prophecy. One of the things that has been on my mind ever since picking up the book is the fact that we shouldn’t be separating our secular and religious life into different, distinct zones. This has been nagging me for a couple of weeks now, which I definitely interpret as the Holy Spirit that dwells in me tugging on my conscience, trying to reveal a truth about my life to me.  → Read more...

Last week, my attention was brought to a sobering news story about Christians in Iraq, a country that has already been ravaged by sectarian violence and religion disagreements taken to the extreme. Allow me to quote some of the article: “Archbishop Louis Sako … called on the U.S. military to do more to protect Christians and other minorities in the face of a rash of deadly attacks that has prompted growing numbers to flee the country.  → Read more...
